Matt ‘Skip’ Sewell
Player Profile
The defensive backbone of the team, Matt “Skip” Sewell, gets as many blocks off the field, thanks to his great Ultimate IQ, as he does on the field with his unbelievable athleticism. Sockeye’s star “endzone-striker-defender” earns most of his blocks on the second half of the field when he’s out-reading, out-positioning, and out-jumping the offense. Skip’s leadership off the field fuels the Fish sideline with an energy that eventually transforms into goals and blocks. Skip’s incredible defense (which included 3 blocks) in the 2006 USA Ultimate Club Finals against Vancouver’s Furious George is widely credited as the game changer that lead Sockeye to their second title.
