The 2008 preseason comes to an end this weekend at the Cal States tournament in Santa Cruz, CA.

Sockeye will be taking two teams of approximately 18 players each. Each team is comprised of a mix of returning veterans and new (but experienced) players.

Other elite teams in attendance include upcoming Worlds participant Furious George from Vancouver, Jam and Revolver from the Bay Area, and the Condors from southern California. Sockeye is the only team in attendance playing as two separate squads.

Despite traditionally bringing two teams to Cal States, Sockeye has a history of success at this tournament. Sockeye teams have won the last two Cal States, and in each of those events both Sockeye teams have made it to the semifinal round.

Only time will tell if Sockeye can replicate that success against the deepest and most competitive Cal States field in recent memory.

This tournament also marks the end of the tryout process for Sockeye's Fall UPA and World Championship rosters. Personnel decisions will be made immediately after play ends on Sunday. The full 2008 roster should be announced by Tuesday, June 3rd.
